Michelle Wie Biography
Michelle Wie is one of golf's most controversial figures. Born in October of 1989, this Korean-American golf sensation has been named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 people shaping our world.
All of this before she's even one a golf event or graduated from Stanford University.
Wie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where she began playing golf at the age of four. She became the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship when she was only ten and became the youngest to qualify for an LPGA event when she was 12.
By 2002, Wie's amateur career was in full swing but it would be a brief run. In 2005, she turned professional but is not a member of the LPGA. This means Wie is limited to participating in only six LPGA events per season and requires a sponsor exception.
Her career so far has been marred by missed cuts, attempts to quality at men's events and an exploding celebrity life that keeps in her in the headlines regardless of how well she performs out on the course.
